Hands down one of the biggest blessing over these past two months has been squad led church. Within our squad there are 6 teams and each week and different team gets to plan and lead us in church. Now listen y’all, church is a BIG deal around here. It’s the one day a week we get all dressed up and look forward to our brothers and sisters leading us into the presence of God.

A lot of planning, dreaming, listening and heart goes into church. The holy spirit has been so faithful in placing themes and ideas in us and putting the passion back into Sunday mornings. And in that I wanted to let you guys in on what exactly that’s looked like!

BLINDFOLDED WORSHIP! Team Abandon led us in blindfolded worship & their theme was boldness! They wanted to create a space for us to worship the Lord boldly and freely without comparison or distraction. After, they challenged us to take the blindfold off and worship just the same! It was authentic and deep worship.

FEET WASHING & LAYING STONES! Team Ecclesia led us in laying our burdens down at the cross. We all got a rock and sat with the Lord and asked Him what burden we were carrying and then we laid it down at the foot of the cross. After, team ecclesia honored us as a squad by washing our feet. This is something Jesus did to serve His disciples at the last supper. What an honor! It was such a sweet time of surrender and deep love.

MY NAME IS… Our squad leaders wrote out names and phrases the Lord calls His children in the word and had us put one on like a name tag. We clothed ourselves in the truth of who God says we are. The theme was fully loved and fully known & it was such a sweet time of intimacy with the Father.

38 VERSES OF UNITY! Our first week here the other team leaders and I had the honor of leading our squad in our first church service! The Lord pretty clearly gave us this idea of unity and we wanted to read scripture to show the Lords heart for unity in the body. The more we looked and found scripture the more we saw the Lords heart and how much He truly values unity. So much so we found 38 verses, that’s one for each person on our squad, to read aloud. What a time of bonding our squad in love and unity!

SUKKOT! Team Brosaic (our men!) BUILT a Sukkah ( go look at the dope pictures on my facebook!) and led us in the traditional Jewish feast, Sukkot. It was simply holy and divine in every way, our squad being unified under the presence of God in this holy tabernacle. Then we worshiped around the campfire and I mean… it can’t get much better!

DANCE PARTY! Last but not least my team, team Caya, had a church filled with celebration and dancing! Our theme was joy & freedom! We had church outside and ended with a huge dance party just soaking in the Lords joy and being filled with FREEDOM! It was also my birthday which was such a gift to me & the Lord blessed us with the most beautiful sunset!

My point in telling you all this is that our squad has breathed so much life back into church! They allow so much room for the holy spirit to do whatever He wants to do. Every Sunday is just drenched in glory. Our church functions like a gym in a way that everyone has a part and a roll to play and our eyes are focused on Jesus, not a person or a worship leader or a set list. Church has become holy again & I’m so grateful. I want to ask you to sit on these questions.

What are you focused on when you walk into church on Sunday morning? Who or what is it that you’re ascribing worth to? What is the Lord asking you to do differently this Sunday?

God wants to partner WITH you! You are apart of the body of Christ & the Lord wants to use your gifts for His glory! Let’s bring life back into Sunday mornings!

  1. My sweet sun child! Every time I read your words I am astounded by the beautiful words the Lord gives you. You are pure. That may be the most perfect description of how I see you and how our Father sees you. Your words, your actions, your faith, your passion and most of all your love. It’s just pure! I love you. I am beyond proud of and grateful for YOU! Your gift is showing and the world is better because of you!
