Just a precursor to this blog, I wrote it 2 days after being in Africa LOL! So a lot has happened but I still wanted you all to have my first initial thoughts! Enjoy 🙂

Hey!!!! Wow okay so I’m in AFRICA!!! Swaziland to be exact, isn’t that WILD?? I feel like soooo much has happened but right now it’s literally day 2 here. Granted we did have a 70+ hour travel “day”. That could be a blog in itself but I’m just gonna give you a brief run down:

1. Bus to ATL airport

2. Sit in ATL airport for a good amount of time (& eat Popeyes)

3. Get on Marta to bus stop & wait at the bus stop for like 3 hours (or if you’re my team you get lost on Marta and do not get off at bus stop but go allll the way to midtown lol)

4. Get on a Mega Bus for 17 hours to washington dc

5. Get off Mega Bus 17 hours later

6. Walk through washington dc to get on a bus then walk some more to a train station then get off train and walk some more to another bus then finally get to the washington dc airport

7. Get on 14 hour plane ride to Qatar

8. Have 4 hour layover in Qatar then get on another 10 hour plane ride to South Africa

9. Get on bus in South Africa then have it break down on the side of the road and then have half of your squad (including myself) be sitting on the side of the road in South Africa for 7 hours !:)

10. Then FINALLY make it to your base in Swaziland after another 3 ish hour bus ride !!

So you can see why it feels like I’ve been here for a month (hehe i actually have been here for a month now)! BUT with all that being said we had so much fun in those many many hours & the Lord got us here 100% safe, maybe a little sleep deprived but safe!

I really love it here already. It feels brand new yet kind of familiar if that makes sense. I’m really excited to get to know this place more. I’ve heard from past racers that it’s slow here and I didn’t quite know what that entailed but it means just that. Life is simply slow. I will say we haven’t started ministry yet (seeing as we’ve literally been here for 48 hours) but just the culture in general is slow paced. I’m still adjusting to that because naturally I’m a very fast paced and on the move kind of person. I think the Lord is teaching me what it means to be still and rest with Him. But all in all what I’ve been telling my squad mates is that I find so much JOY here. Not happiness, happiness fades and flees but JOY in the Lord and in your surrounding and community is constant. That’s what I feel here. He’s got my feet planted right where He wants me.

Sorry that was like 2 blogs and thoughts in one but I just wanted to get all this out there. I’m really eager to share so many cool things that have and will happen here with all of you. Im actually here like in real life!!!! Crazy right?!?! Anyway I still have some fundraising left to do to if you feel led to donate the button is up top!! Thank you guys for supporting me in so many ways, it is all coming to fruition!! Talk to you soon (maybe???) !!!
